4 Reasons Why You Should Shop in the Men's Section

Hi babes,

Earlier this year at a party, I saw a gorgeous jacket on one of my guy friends, and after admiring it for a while one of my first thoughts was “Wow! the women’s section has really taken us for bloody idiots!” Ever since then I have slowly been injecting some menswear pieces into my wardrobe and loving it. So, I thought I would share with you 4 reasons why you should shop in the Men’s section.

This was the Jacket that caught my eye. It was actually an XS men’s but fit beautifully like a women’s medium.

SIZE: One of my biggest apprehensions with shopping in the men’s section was the sizing, but I found 2 reasons to love it. Generally speaking clothes that fit slightly larger tend to have a more expensive feel and look, so if you’re shopping in the men’s section you’re automatically looking a bit more luxe. Another reason, which was probably the best realizations for me is that as a woman on the petite end shopping in the men’s section, there are always items for me. Most men usually wear a medium so when that size runs out, I can snag the small and extra small sizes which often fit like a women’s medium. Talk about a win!

QUALITY: This might be purely perception but I genuinely think men’s clothing tends to have a better quality, particularly when it comes to sweaters. There aren’t as many frills in menswear so the focus tends to be a bit more on the quality of the actual clothing. Next time you’re in a man’s closet, find a comparable women’s item, such as a sweater and do a quick comparison.

This denim shirt belonged to my dad, and I genuinely have not found a denim shirt in the women’s section that is as durable as this one.

I have become obsessed with raiding my guy friend’s closet for items they no longer want. It helps that a shirt dress never goes out of style.

CLASSIC DESIGN: Style over trends. We hear this all the time and yet somehow each year, we women find ourselves getting rid of pieces that are simply “out of style”. Menswear in general is not a trendy field. Sure some companies do experiment with new styles, cuts, and fabrics, but for the most part the design stays the same and because of that you will never look out of place in menswear. Again, because menswear cuts back on the frills of design you can wear the items season after season without looking out of place

LESS EXPENSIVE. Whew!! Ladies! Babes! My dears! The pink tax is real. If you’re shopping in mens and comparing it to the women’s section you will generally find that women’s wear tends to be a bit more expensive than men’s wear. I’m not sure why, but this is something that has been found generally in consumerism and it tends to hold true for clothing as well.

That is all babes. Next time you’re at a store definitely pop by the men’s section and give it a try. If you’re nervous about it, I suggest starting out with some shorts and outerwear then slowly working your way through the other pieces.

See you next time XX
